We want UK Tax Hero to be usable by as many people as possible. We continuously work to improve accessibility and welcome feedback from all users. If you encounter any barrier, please tell us — we take every report seriously.
1. Our Accessibility Commitment
UK Tax Hero is committed to ensuring that its website and digital services are accessible to all users, regardless of disability, assistive technology, or method of access. We believe that access to tax information and guidance should not be restricted by accessibility barriers.
This commitment extends to all users, including those with:
- Visual impairments, including low vision and blindness
- Hearing impairments or deafness
- Motor or physical disabilities affecting keyboard or pointer use
- Cognitive disabilities, learning differences, or neurodiversity
- Users accessing the site via assistive technologies such as screen readers, magnification software, switch access, or voice control
We are also mindful that many users access this site on mobile devices, in low-bandwidth conditions, or in environments where they cannot use a mouse or touchscreen in the conventional way.
2. The Accessibility Standard We Follow
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG 2.2 is the current international standard for web accessibility and covers four principles:
- Perceivable: Information and user interface components must be presentable in ways users can perceive
- Operable: User interface components and navigation must be operable
- Understandable: Information and operation of the user interface must be understandable
- Robust: Content must be robust enough to be interpreted reliably by a wide variety of user agents, including assistive technologies
While we do not yet claim full WCAG 2.2 Level AA conformance across all pages, this is our active target and we are working systematically to achieve and maintain it.
3. Current Compliance Status
As of the review date of this statement, our compliance position across key WCAG 2.2 criteria is as follows:
We publish this status in a spirit of transparency. "Partially complete" and "Under review" items are active improvement tasks.
4. Known Accessibility Issues
We are currently aware of the following accessibility limitations:
- Some older article images lack descriptive alt text. We are systematically reviewing and updating image alt text across all content pages. Priority is given to diagrams, charts, and infographics that convey tax information.
- Downloadable PDF resources. Some older PDF templates may not be fully accessible for screen reader users. We are reviewing these and will either update them or provide accessible HTML alternatives.
- Video content. Where video content is present, closed captions have not yet been implemented on all videos. We are working to add captions to all video content.
- AI Tax Chat interface. The AI Tax Chat widget is an actively developed third-party-integrated feature. We are working with the relevant providers to improve keyboard and screen reader accessibility.
- Complex calculator tables. Some calculator result tables may not provide the most accessible experience for screen reader users. We are reviewing these for improvements.
If you discover any accessibility issue not listed here, please report it using the process in Section 7 below.
5. Technical Accessibility Features
The following accessibility features are implemented across the Website:
- Semantic HTML5 structure with appropriate heading hierarchy
- ARIA landmark roles for navigation, main content, and complementary content
- Visible focus indicators on all interactive elements
- Sufficient colour contrast ratios meeting WCAG 2.2 Level AA (minimum 4.5:1 for normal text)

prefers-reduced-motionmedia query - Breadcrumb navigation to aid orientation
