Estimate Student Loan deductions from pay

Estimate the PAYE deduction from one regular weekly or monthly payday. You can include one undergraduate plan and a Postgraduate Loan at the same time.

Use the gross pay used for employer Class 1 National Insurance, including any bonus or overtime paid in this period.

How often are you paid?

Student Loan thresholds apply separately to each pay period.

Which undergraduate repayment plan applies?

Check your Student Loans Company account or HMRC notice if you are not sure.

Do you also repay a Postgraduate Loan?

A Postgraduate Loan deduction can be taken alongside one undergraduate plan deduction.

Does a non-standard repayment situation apply?

Choose yes for self-employment or Self Assessment, overseas repayment, multiple jobs, multiple undergraduate plans, a court order, or a pay interval other than one week or one month.

Your pay figure is used only for this calculation. It is not added to a lead record or analytics event.

What this estimate includes

Plans 1, 2, 4 and 5 are deducted at 9% above their weekly or monthly threshold. A Postgraduate Loan is deducted separately at 6% above its threshold. HMRC requires each deduction to be rounded down to the nearest whole pound.

This is a payday estimate, not a loan-balance forecast. Your balance and interest do not set the PAYE deduction. If pay changes, including through a bonus or overtime, calculate that payday separately.

How to understand your result

The calculator content must explain the result breakdown, applicable period, rounding, assumptions, exclusions and the primary sources used by its versioned tax table.
