Check your employee mileage allowance

Compare HMRC’s approved amount with what your employer paid when you used your own vehicle for qualifying business travel.

What kind of vehicle did you use?

Use one calculation for all vehicles of the same kind. Run it again for a different kind.

Total whole miles in 2026/27. Do not include ordinary commuting or private travel.

Enter £0 if your employer paid nothing. Do not include separate passenger payments, parking or tolls.

Your figures are used only for this calculation. They are not added to a lead record or analytics event.

What this calculator includes

This is for an employee using their own car, van, motorcycle or cycle for qualifying business travel. It is not for a company vehicle, advisory fuel rates or self-employed simplified expenses.

Ordinary commuting and private travel do not qualify. Miles for all vehicles of the same kind are combined for the tax year. A separate employer passenger payment of up to 5p per passenger per business mile may be tax-free, but there is no Mileage Allowance Relief if it was not paid.

How to understand your result
